We are looking for a detail-oriented LTL Freight Specialist who thrives and can independently oversee shipments from initial quotation through final delivery with minimal oversight. This role is central to ensuring cost-effective, timely and compliant transportation for our clients. The ideal candidate has strong industry knowledge and excels at managing the complexities of LTL shipping.
Key Responsibilities:
· Top priority is to drive sales growth in an LTL environment while including yield improvement
· Constantly looking for new opportunities to grow and expand our business as well as maintaining existing relationships with our valued customers
· Strong prospecting and hunting skills, with proven sales experience and ability to acquire new business
· Setting reminders to call carriers for load updates and document in the system
· Schedule and track appointments for carriers to arrive at the shipper or receiver location. Reschedule when necessary.

· Develop delivery routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day.
· Effectively, efficiently, and concisely communicate with customers and operations in a team-oriented environment in order to cover customer loads. Share responsibilities for any customer loads that occur after regular working hours.
· Provide exemplary customer service even when faced with disgruntled carriers.
· Onboard new carriers, develop preexisting carrier relationships, offboard carriers when necessary.
· Negotiate rates with carriers, provide carriers with pertinent information regarding loads, ensure all loads are successfully completely professionally and on time, apply conflict-resolution skills to solve issues as they arise, assist in maintaining customers’ satisfaction, submit BOLs to accounting for processing.
· Familiarity with Common Carrier tariffs, accessorial charges, FAKs, freight classes, and NMFCs.
· Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers.
· Cultivate strong relationships with drivers and customers.
· Monitor any sudden route changes or road construction issues and work with drivers to establish new routes for timely deliveries.
· Develop lane backhaul solutions.
· Perform freight services according to company and government regulations.
· Plan and coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules.
· Track and report shipment status to customers.
· Respond to customer concerns and queries professionally.
· Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with shippers.
· Ensure that freight paperwork is completed and approved before transportation.
· Maintain the integrity of data in the system of record (Transportation Management System) Navigator.
· Ensure Freight Tracer and Navigator are utilized per the company KPI goals.
· Communicate with the sales team to ensure customer needs and requirements.
· Ensure all DOT regulations and laws are adhered to.
· Perform various customer service duties when clients/carriers call in.
Requirements / Experience:
The following qualifications are considered strong assets:
· Atleast minimum 3 years’ experience with an LTL trucking company
· LTL Sales experience
· RFQ/RFP experience
· Spot quoting experience
· White glove service / Residential & Commercial
· LTL liability and insurance policies knowledge is an asset
· Freight consolidation
· Freight bills
· LoadLink experience
· Customer service
· 5-ton dispatching
· Milk run experience
· Domestic (geography) LTL experience
· Driver Management
· CN/CPKC experience
· Work within a team
· Afterhours & Weekend availability
· Proficient in TMS systems (PortPro - Samsara - Blackberry)
