We are looking for a full-time mechanic skilled in both heavy-duty and auto, with an interest to run heavy equipment & occasionally transport light equipment. The right candidate will confidently maintain and repair our fleet of trucks, trailers and heavy equipment.
The average schedule for this position is 5-6 days per week. 6:30am - 3:30pm. Overtime up to 12 hrs a day when required. We pay OT after 8hrs a day & 44hrs a week, whichever comes first. Occasional nightshift may be required throughout the winter season.
The fleet we are looking to maintain consists mainly of 1-5ton diesel trucks, electric brake trailers, skid-steers, excavators, packer and PTO tractor. We have regular work scheduled year round with the opportunity to grow within the company.
The right candidate must have the following attributes:
Skills:
- Proven HD/Auto mechanic experience
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components of vehicles, trailers and heavy equipment
- Previous experience hauling and operating heavy equipment
- Fabrication and welding experience considered an asset
- Ability to handle various tools
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
- Excellent physical condition
Responsibilities:
- Regularly scheduled maintenance on all trucks, trailer and equipment
- Document repairs and manage all maintenance paperwork as per company maintenance program
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues
- Order parts and pick-up as required
- Keep logs on work and issues
- Maintain shop, vehicles, equipment and tools in good condition
