After School Program Teacher
About Us
Lorvale Academy is a growing education centre providing academic support and enrichment programs for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We are looking for caring, energetic, and responsible teachers to join our After School Program team and help create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment for young learners.
Position Overview
As an After School Program Teacher, you will supervise and support students after school through a combination of homework assistance, educational activities, games, and classroom management. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, especially Junior Kindergarten (JK) students, and is passionate about helping them learn and grow.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students in a safe, caring, and engaging environment.
- Support JK and elementary students with daily routines and classroom activities.
- Assist students with homework and learning tasks.
- Lead educational games, arts and crafts, reading activities, and group activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help develop students' social skills.
- Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness.
- Communicate professionally with parents and staff when necessary.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
QualificationsRequired
- Experience working with young children (JK to elementary age).
- Comfortable caring for and engaging Junior Kindergarten (JK) students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible, patient, energetic, and reliable.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred
- Previous experience in an after-school program, daycare, tutoring centre, preschool, or elementary school.
- Background in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Education, Child & Youth Care, or a related field.
- First Aid & CPR Certification is an asset.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Mandarin is considered an asset.
