About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People within First Nation and rural communities (south of the 53rd parallel) in Manitoba. You will provide general information regarding the Criminal Justice system, short-term counselling, risk assessments, safety planning and referrals to community programs as required. You will work closely with the families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People, community agencies, and government departments and agencies to ensure questions families have about their loved one(s) are answered and ensure families receive comprehensive support and referral to both Western and traditional resources.
What You Bring:
- Three (3) years’ experience working in the Indigenous community; or equivalent combination of education and experiences with successful program or program coordination
- Proven team player who demonstrates flexibility and adaptability
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated individual
- Stellar facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to create and edit project documents, materials, and presentations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and resolution skills, and good use of judgement
- Demonstrated ability to manage stress effectively, efficient project management skills to meet time challenges and constraints
- Effective crisis intervention skills
- Experience facilitating sharing / healing circles and knowledge of traditional healing practices
- Awareness of the issues concerning human trafficking and sexual exploitation and victimization
- Intimate knowledge of the issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People within Canada
- Ability to travel as needed
