Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the daily operations of our optometry practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a passion for helping others, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Administer eye drops, ointments and medications as directed by optometrists
- Assist health care professionals
- Follow through on treatment programs with patients
- Operate ophthalmic testing and measuring instruments
- Clean and maintain equipment
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies
- Process claims such as health insurance or workers compensation
- Perform general clerical duties
- Process files and paperwork
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Take patients' general medical and ophthalmic history
- Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments
- Send and receive messages
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or optometry setting is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Epic is a plus.
- Experience in customer service is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential for success in this role.
