Looking to hire immediately excavation layout labourer to assist heavy equipment operators by physically preparing job sites, measuring and marking digging boundaries (layout), and securing trenches. This job might be physically demanding at times, role ensures that excavation machinery digs safely, accurately, and to specified elevations.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Layout & Grade Checking: Interpreting project plans to assist surveyors and operators. This includes pounding stakes, stretching string lines, reading laser levels, and marking the exact perimeter of the dig site.
- Guiding Operators: Providing hand signals and verbal communication to operators when digging near sensitive underground utilities (gas, water, hydro) to prevent accidents.
- Trench Preparation: Leveling the earth to fine grade specifications, compacting soil, and spreading bedding materials like sand or gravel.
- General Duties: Moving materials, clearing debris, loading/unloading tools, and performing preventative maintenance on gas-powered handheld tools
