Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Shipping and Logistics Manager to manage outbound and inbound freight, trucking, air freight, courier shipments, and third party logistics coordination. This role is focused on ensuring materials, equipment, and project shipments move accurately, cost effectively, and on schedule across local, national, and international routes.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience coordinating carriers, freight brokers, trucking companies, air freight providers, and logistics partners. They will be responsible for planning shipments, obtaining freight quotes, booking transportation, preparing shipping documentation, tracking deliveries, resolving transit issues, and ensuring deadlines are met. This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple shipments and timelines in a fast paced environment.
Duties
Coordinate domestic and international shipments by truck, air freight, courier, and third party freight providers.
Book and manage LTL, FTL, dedicated truck, hot shot, courier, and air freight shipments based on project timelines and delivery requirements.
Source freight quotes, compare carrier options, negotiate pricing, and select the most appropriate transportation method.
Coordinate with freight brokers, trucking companies, air cargo providers, customs brokers, and third party logistics partners.
Prepare and manage shipping documents including bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, customs documents, labels, and delivery paperwork.
Track shipments from pickup through final delivery and proactively resolve delays, missed pickups, damages, or delivery issues.
Plan logistics schedules to ensure materials, equipment, and finished goods arrive on time for project deadlines, events, installations, and client deliveries.
Communicate shipment status clearly with internal teams, clients, vendors, carriers, and receiving locations.
Manage freight claims, damage reports, proof of delivery records, and carrier documentation.
Coordinate special handling requirements including fragile items, oversized freight, time sensitive deliveries, trade show freight, and scheduled delivery windows.
Work with project, production, sales, and purchasing teams to confirm shipping requirements, pickup dates, delivery locations, weights, dimensions, and timelines.
Maintain accurate freight records, shipment costs, tracking information, and carrier performance data.
Identify cost savings and process improvements related to shipping methods, carrier selection, packaging, routing, and freight planning.
Ensure shipments comply with carrier requirements, customs regulations, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
Support receiving and outbound coordination as needed, while keeping the main focus on transportation, freight movement, and delivery execution.
Skills
Strong experience coordinating trucking, air freight, courier, LTL, FTL, and third party logistics services.
Knowledge of freight booking, carrier management, routing, delivery scheduling, and shipment tracking.
Experience working with freight brokers, trucking companies, air freight providers, customs brokers, and logistics vendors.
Strong understanding of shipping documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, customs paperwork, and proof of delivery records.
Ability to quote, compare, negotiate, and manage freight costs effectively.
Experience with time sensitive, oversized, fragile, or high value shipments is an asset.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, vendors, and delivery locations at once.
Excellent communication skills for coordinating between internal teams, clients, carriers, vendors, and receiving sites.
Strong problem solving skills, especially when dealing with delayed shipments, missed pickups, damaged freight, or last minute changes.
Comfortable using logistics platforms, carrier portals, shipment tracking systems, spreadsheets, ERP systems, and basic reporting tools.
Understanding of packaging requirements, freight dimensions, weight calculations, palletizing, crating, and safe transport methods.
Experience with trade show, event, millwork, construction, manufacturing, or project based logistics is considered a strong asset.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment where schedules, delivery requirements, and priorities can change quickly.
This role is ideal for a logistics professional who can confidently manage the movement of materials from pickup to final delivery, while keeping costs controlled, timelines protected, and all parties informed throughout the shipping process.
Pay: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
