We are seeking an extraordinary, enthusiastic Millwright/Power Engineer to join our Kelowna team. Our Winery is located in the heart of Kelowna between downtown and Knox Mountain, Calona Winery has the distinction of being British Columbia's original winery. As a pioneer in the BC wine industry, Calona leads the way to higher levels of craftsmanship and professionalism. Calona's wines are award-winning, rivaling the world's most established names to prove the Okanagan Valley is at the international forefront of fine wine production.
Reporting into the Maintenance and Continuous Improvement Manager, we are recruiting for Millwright/Power Engineer who will be responsible for repairing and maintaining all mechanical equipment in the facility, as well the operation, repair, and maintenance of plant services such as hot water boilers and refrigeration equipment.

What you Offer:

A 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate;
-
A Red Seal Millwright ticket is strongly preferred, consideration will be given to a candidate possessing a Power Engineering certificate along with an additional trade ticket;
-
Applicants must be self-motivated and driven to continuously improve equipment and processes;
-
Preferred candidates will have experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of a manufacturing plant including hot water boilers, pressure vessels, refrigeration, air compressors, pumps, and process control equipment;

HRAI environment awareness for CFC/HCFC/HFC control;
-
Scissor lift/boom lift and forklift certificates;
-
Ability to adhere to HACCP requirements and the GMP policy;
-
Effective communications and computer skills are required;
-
The ability to work under minimal supervision and preference for a team-oriented approach are desirable attributes;

Able to lift up to 50 lbs; and
-
Predominantly dayshift but some weekend work and off shift work is required in this role. During fall harvest time, shift work including graveyards, standby coverage and call in support will be required.
What you will be doing:
-
Operation, repairs, and maintenance of facility equipment such as hot water boilers and refrigeration equipment;
-
Operation, repairs, and maintenance of plant utility equipment including air compressors, hot/cold water systems, glycol systems, HVAC, compressed gases, fire suppression systems, pumps, and effluent;

Support and Maintenance of Cellars and Packaging equipment as required;
-
Participate in the planning and construction of plant projects and preventative maintenance initiatives with other members of the maintenance department;

Actively participate in equipment tracking work order systems;
-
Participate in continuous improvement project planning and actively support/carry out action items;
-
Work with facility operators to optimize equipment performance and safety;
-
Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through participation and support of the Health & Safety Program, joint H&S committee (if applicable) and compliance with EH&S regulations;

Monitor and request parts for your area(s) of operation;

Interface with contractors and corporate engineers;
-
Record retention such as plant rounds, logbooks, forms and procedures; and
-
Any other duties as assigned by the Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
This role is part of the Service Employees International Union Local 2, Branch 300.
Starting Hourly Rate: $41.16 - $42.75
