Position Summary
Kymera International (CASL Surface Technologies) is seeking a Quality Control Specialist to support our Thermal Spray Business Unit in Fort Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring products meet customer, regulatory, and company quality standards through inspection, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Production, Machining, Welding, and Thermal Spray personnel to support an ABSA-certified manufacturing environment and ensure compliance with ASME, CSA, AWS, ISO 9001, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections of manufactured, repaired, and coated components.
- Conduct visual welding inspections and verify compliance with approved welding procedures and customer specifications.
- Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Verify compliance with engineering drawings, quality plans, and applicable industry codes.
- Support the facility's ABSA-certified Quality Management System and maintain quality documentation and inspection records.
- Review material traceability, inspection reports, and manufacturing documentation.
- Raise and investigate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and participate in corrective actions.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Collaborate with Operations and Production teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain inspection records and quality documentation within SAP and other quality management systems.
Qualifications
Required:
- CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector Certification (CSA W178.2).
- 3–5 years of quality control or welding inspection experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Working knowledge of ASME Section IX, ASME B31.3, CSA W59/W47.1, and ISO 9001.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and quality documentation.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP or similar ERP systems.
Preferred:
- Experience in thermal spray, weld overlay, or engineered surface technologies.
- Experience in an ABSA-certified pressure equipment manufacturing or repair environment.
- NDE certifications (VT, PT, MT) are considered an asset.
