Microsoft Fabric Migration - Architect
THE OPPORTUNITY
Total Systems Solutions Consulting Inc. https://totalsystems.ca is seeking a Microsoft Fabric Architect – Microsoft Fabric Migration to work for our public sector client at the Interior Health Authority (IHA) in the Province of British Columbia. You must be available 100% to work Remote full-time 40 hours per week with availability Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm in the Pacific Time Zone.
The consultant is expected to start ASAP and the contract length is 2 years.
Project Context
Interior Health (IH) is planning to modernize its existing Microsoft Synapse Data and Analytics Infrastructure by migrating to Microsoft Fabric. In order to support a smooth transition and enable new capabilities IH would like to develop a migration plan. This migration plan will include the creation of a proof of concept for Fabric and provide a sandbox to demonstrated Fabric capabilities and provide an environment for learning.
Service Required
Reporting to the Director of Data Management, the consulting team will have the following responsibilities:
- Document the inventory of IHA’s current data, analytics and technology assets and document characteristics to inform the migration plan
- Develop a migration plan to prioritize migration tasks as well as other required components to support successful migration of the assets to Fabric including but not limited to: Azure (Storage Account, Azure SQL, VMs, DevOps), Synapse (Data Ingestion, Pipelines, Dedicated Pool), Databricks (Workflows, Delta Live Tables Pipelines, Notebooks), PowerBI (Semantic Models, Reports), CI/CD (Repos, Pipelines, Releases)
- Where appropriate, the migration plan must present options to consider for comparable or superior components that are compatible with Fabric architecture. Options should be presented with pros/cons as well as a recommendation.
- Update existing IH migration guide that contemplates on-prem data reporting migration to synapse and modernize for Fabric migration.
- Support documentation of Privacy Impact Assessment and Security Assessment for Fabric utilization
- Provide consultation/guidance on appropriate Azure Fabric Capacity architecture to support Fabric services including Enterprise reporting, scalable report development, and expanded citizen data analysis and report development.
- Provide consultation/guidance on architecture to achieve rapid data replication transfer from on premises sources (MS SQL) to Fabric OneLake. There is a desire to have data available in MS OneLake in near real-time for PowerBI reporting and for other purposes.
- Assess Microsoft Fabric’s federated data governance capabilities for data sharing with provincial health partner entities.
- Provide support and guidance on the design/build/deployment of a Fabric Proof of Concept (PoC) to:
Demonstrate Fabric capabilities and provide a sandbox for learning and exploration
Demonstrate data sharing scenarios with provincial health partners.
Consultant Qualifications
REQUIRED: 3+ years experience in the following:
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
- Azure Synapse Data & Analytics architecture and implementation
- Microsoft Fabric architecture and implementation
NICE TO HAVE : 1+ years experience in the following:
- Databricks workflows, delta live tables pipelines, and Notebooks
- Data Engineering
- PowerBI reporting architecture
- Hands-on operational experience on Microsoft Fabric
