The role – Team Lead, Design Division
We are currently seeking an experienced Design Team Lead with superior communication and project management skills, a high level of creativity, and strong leadership ability. This person will need to motivate and encourage our design studio, comprised of graphic and industrial designers, and ensure all designs are produced and delivered on time.
Role and Responsibilities:
Manage, support, coach, and provide feedback to the design team;
Facilitate weekly team huddles and monthly team meetings;
Manage workloads and delegate work;
Develop, implement, and monitor design department standards;
Keep management updated on all projects, department workflows and process improvements, and overall department concerns;
Maintain and update design documentation (templates, forms, process documents, etc.);
Implement efficiencies and improvements in design processes;
Enhance design knowledge and skillset as opportunities arise;
Consult with internal clients, and production partners to establish the overall look, design elements, and production requirements of various signs, merchandising elements, environmental branding packages, and displays;
Produce layouts of architectural hardware, signage, and fixtures efficiently and error-free;
Develop design concepts and recommendations, and present to internal and external clients;
Conceptualize, design, and manage the design process from initial idea through to all technical production details;
Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications, and guidelines for production and installation;
Consult with production partners during fabrication to troubleshoot as required;
Offer creative and/or technical recommendations on project work when required;
Other duties as assigned by management.
Completion of a post-secondary program in graphic design, visual arts, or other relevant field(s) is required;
High proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite;
Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks and KeyShot are advantageous;
Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite;
Ability to produce detailed and accurate technical drawings and layouts in a timely manner;
Manage multiple on-going projects from beginning to end in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
Technical ability and artistic talent, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work;
A solid understanding of signage detailing, materials, construction processes and printing (digital and conventional);
Ability to maintain strong communication with colleagues, clients, andvendors;
A passion to stay current on market trends and research as it relates to environmental graphic design.
