Applied Industrial Technologies is an extensive network of industrial distribution and shop facilities located throughout Canada. We currently have an immediate opening for a full time Shop Foreman in our Port Kells (Surrey), BC shop location.
The Shop Foreman is responsible for providing leadership in the development and execution of the shop process and production strategy in support of the overall business plan and the strategic direction of the company. The Shop Foreman will be actively working on the floor and involved in all daily activities related to shop floor production, order administration and material management/coordination. This is a hands-on billable role contributing to positive labour utilization and shop profitability.
Applicants must be a service minded, energetic individual who possesses abilities in the following:
- The development, effectiveness and efficiency of the day to day production of the shop facility working within vision as directed by Applied Canada management team and with the support of the technical services team.

Above average understanding of Fluid Power principles, component repairs and hydraulic systems

Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, understand/interpret schematics and provide accurate failure analysis

Be a leader and actively participate in the Applied Corporate Safety Program. Ensure all processes are within regulations and program is implemented successfully and standards are upheld. Work safely, lead by example and contribute to company safety program.

Work with the shop management and administration team to plan, implement and control the service and production schedule - determine schedules, sequences and assignments for work activities based on work priority, availability of equipment and skill of personnel.
- Working on a day-today basis to improve technicians daily work utilization, distribute work as needed.

Communicate scope of work and work instructions professionally and effectively to shop floor employees

Responsible to monitor and ensure all shop employees follow documented instructions given on the shop orders to ensure compliance with the company's safety policies and quality system.

Assist in the development of the quality control and tracking programs to detect/correct problems and meet quality objectives. Monitor, maintain and focus on continuous improvement of the shop Quality System to ensure corporate and customer quality standards are up held.

Conduct weekly/regular production meetings with employees, provide weekly updates to management as required.
- Coordinate rush jobs, overtime and be available for afterhours.

Make recommendations to management regarding capital requirements, personnel training, employee development needs and other expenses based on operational requirements.

Cost Control - Monitor Shop Supply consumption, make recommendations to improve purchasing practices and reduce costs. Ensure resources are utilized in the most efficient manner.

Ensure shop floor personnel are scheduled properly and have the correct information to ensure the most effective and efficient use of resources.

Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and management.

Manage and maintain materials for production and stock requirements.

Teamwork – work to develop an effective and cohesive team including all stakeholders.
Work Experience:
The selected individual must have the ability to bring immediate credibility to the shop function through his/her performance, professional qualifications and leadership skills as well as project and demonstrate our core values. Excellent interpersonal communication as well as organizational skills are required.
Qualifications:

Licensed Trade or equivalent of 10 years’ experience in a Hydraulic/Mechanical Repair shop environment.

Understanding of the products and services offered by Applied Industrial Technologies and the value brought to our customers.

Ability to mentor, develop and lead team towards Corporate objectives.

Ability to manage employees, diffuse volatile situations and report and resolve issues in the best interest of the team and individual employees.

Self motivated with the ability to motivate team as required to achieve success.

General knowledge of machines, tooling and raw materials related to Kamloops Shop.

Competent using general computer programs
-
General knowledge of engineering and technical aspects of power transmission products. Ability to read/interpret drawings, blueprints and schematics.

Ability to understand the potential service needs of customers and provide service to exceed customer expectations.

Above average communication skills both written and verbal.
Compensation may/will vary depending on experience, qualifications, and expertise, however, the ideal candidate may see a compensation range between $46.00/hour and $49.00/hour.
