Teardown/Yard Labourer — Growth Path to Yard Manager
Farmer Pete's Ag Ltd — Ponoka, AB (443042 Range Rd 261)
Pay: $18–$26/hour, based on experience — raise at 6 months based on performance
Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40–60 hrs/week (occasional Saturdays)
Location: Outdoors, yard-based — no office work
You'll tear down ag and construction equipment, pull parts for customer orders, and load shipping containers. Some days you're wrenching on a combine. Other days you're on a forklift loading a sea can bound for overseas. If you like taking things apart, working with your hands, and figuring out how machinery works, this is that kind of job.
We're a small, growing salvage yard — and we'd rather train the right person up than hire someone into a title they're not ready for. Show us you can do the work and lead by example, and there's a real path to running the yard.
What You'll Do
- Dismantle agricultural and construction equipment
- Pull parts for customer orders
- Load sea cans and containers for shipping
- Help manage incoming and outgoing freight
- Learn to run yard equipment: telehandler, forklift, skid steer, tractors, combines
- Keep the shop and yard clean and organized
- Once you're ready: lead crew tasks, coordinate freight, help run daily operations
What You Need
- Mechanically inclined — you're not afraid to get your hands dirty
- Comfortable working outside, year-round, in all weather
- Able to lift heavy parts and stay active all day
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable and willing to put in extra effort when a shipment needs it
- Salvage yard, scrap yard, or heavy equipment experience is a plus — not required
Why Work Here
- Real path to Yard Manager — we promote from the crew
- On-the-job training on all equipment
- Closed every Sunday, no exceptions
- Housing assistance available
