Job Summary
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Senior Aircraft Structures Engineer will be the primary Engineering team member responsible for developing and implementing aircraft structural and mechanical technical solutions as well as developing Eagle’s capabilities with respect to new technologies and materials.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support for all customer and company structural and mechanical requests including recommending technical solutions, generating proposals, liaising with Customer Support and Production on quotations, and providing technical expertise and advise with respect to fabrication, repair, modification and installation.
- Create and review certification and reference data packages, including technical drawings, installation manuals, Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness, flight manuals, test plans, test reports, technical analyses, substantiation reports, certification plans, etc.
- Manage engineering projects utilizing both internal and external resources ensuring successful project completion.
- Create, review and administer structural test programs for certification or other requirements.
- Provide technical support to customers, installers, and the Customer Support team in support of the installation and certification of aeronautical products.
- Develop processes, procedures and analytical techniques for the design and certification of new technologies and materials.
- Remain current on technical solutions based on customer input and the latest trends in aviation technology and materials.
- Attend trade shows, workshops and training courses as directed by the company to ensure knowledge and skills are kept current.
- Independently conduct online research and communicate with manufacturers and vendors to update understanding of available products.
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced colleagues.
- Develop, and enforce compliance with, internal policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the highest quality outputs and support continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development and operation of a TCCA DAO.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma or equivalent in a related field (e.g. Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace
- Engineering, Mechanical Engineering).
- Eligibility for certification under APEGA or ASET.
- Minimum of 8 years aviation/aerospace engineering experience.
- Minimum of 5 years aircraft structural/mechanical design (new, modification or repair) and substantiation experience.
- Advanced technical/engineering drawing skills.
- Excellent computer skills relating to Microsoft Office, Document Control and CAD software suites.
- Outstanding problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and effectively handle changing priorities.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- A high degree of cultural awareness, respect, and sensitivity.
Preference will be given to applicants who also possess:
- Experience with AutoCAD Inventor or other 3D CAD Software.
- Part 27 or 29 helicopter completions and/or STC experience.
- Experience with aircraft certification, specifically STC, RDA and PDA design approvals.
- Familiarity with TCCA CAR 521, 527, 529 and equivalents.
- Part 23 or 25 aircraft completions and/or STC experience.
- Engineering project management experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Eligibility for delegation under AWM 505.
- Experience with Damage Tolerance Analysis.
- Familiarity with advanced analysis techniques.
