Job Description
Pier Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a meticulous problem-solver with a knack for accuracy and a passion for maintaining financial integrity. Your analytical mindset will drive the establishment of financial benchmarks and the preparation of comprehensive reports, guiding our financial decisions in a dynamic economic landscape.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, your job duties will include:
- Performing full cycle accounting, including completing monthly bank reconciles, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger, and preparing financial statements
- Calculating and processing bi-weekly payroll and tracking vacation and sick time
- Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Maintaining internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, budgets and expenditures
- Establishing financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, and reporting standards on a regular basis
- Implementing consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures that adhere to national and local legal standards, while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
- Developing and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets
- Providing comprehensive financial updates to the management team by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
- Guiding financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining financial controls and guidelines
- Achieving budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions
- Helping to develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant designation required
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping and accounting
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
- Experience in preparing financial statements and reports
- Experience in payroll management
Other Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
