We are looking for Meat Managers to join our growing store teams! As a Meat Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the meat department, ensuring the highest quality products and strict adherence to food safety standards. As a key decision-maker and point of contact with Head Office, the Meat Manager is responsible for leading meat cutting processes, training staff on cutting techniques and food safety, and organizing product displays. With strong leadership and communication skills, you will drive efficient operations and sales, while enhancing the overall customer experience at our stores.
Key Responsibilities
Department Operations & Staff Training
- Oversee the daily operations of the meat department including leading meat cutting procedures, performing food safety checks, and maintaining product quality.
- Perform various meat cutting procedures including slicing, trimming, packaging, and labelling products to meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by complying with food handling and sanitation regulations.
- Ensure product displays are well-stocked, visually appealing, and correctly priced.
- Address customer inquiries, provide product recommendations, and resolve any customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Lead and manage a team of meat department staff, training new and existing employees on meat cutting techniques, safety procedures, and product knowledge.
- Schedule staff shifts based on availability and business needs.
Inventory Management & Sales Strategization
- Lead the ordering and receiving of meat products, verifying quantities and inspecting product quality upon arrival.
- Organize newly arrived products in storage by following proper handling and storage methods.
- Monitor inventory levels and order products accordingly to minimize waste and shrink.
- Collaborate with Meat Buyers to develop strategies for increasing meat department sales and profitability.
- Assist in planning and executing promotional events, weekly specials, and seasonal product offerings to drive customer interest and boost sales.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends and make informed decisions on product assortment and pricing to meet changing customer preferences.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of meat cutting experience, with proven experience managing a team.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, including meat handling, storage, and quality control processes.
- Expert in operating band saw and meat grinder machines for meat processing.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A customer-oriented mindset with the ability to provide excellent service.
- Strong organizational skills needed to perform administrative tasks and maintain records.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workplace.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic by taking initiative and staying committed to company goals.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion.
- Possession of a valid Food Safe Certificate is strongly preferred.
