Driver / Labourer – Trailer Towing Experience Required

Iron Horse Outdoor Services is looking for a reliable Driver / Labourer to join our growing team.
This position is a mix of driving, trailer towing, material pickups, dump runs, site support, equipment handling, and general labour. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, operates equipment safely, and understands the responsibility that comes with commercial vehicles and trailers.
Responsibilities
- Towing dump trailers
- Material pickups and deliveries
- Dump runs
- Loading and unloading materials
- Site setup and cleanup
- Assisting hardscape and excavation crews
- Daily vehicle and trailer inspections
- Basic equipment maintenance and care
- Equipment transport and trailer management
Requirements
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence or higher
- Less than 4 points on driver's abstract
- Heavy trailer towing experience
- Comfortable backing and maneuvering trailers
- Physically fit and capable of labour work
- Reliable and punctual
- Professional attitude and appearance
Assets
- Landscaping experience
- Construction experience
- Equipment operation experience
- Air Brake Endorsement
- Class 3 or Class 1 Licence
- Basic mechanical knowledge
Mechanical Knowledge
Preference will be given to candidates with basic knowledge of:
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulic systems
- Electric trailer brakes
- Trailer maintenance
- Daily equipment inspections
Load Securement & Trailer Safety
Applicants should have experience with, or be willing to learn:
- Proper use of ratchet straps
- Chain binders and chains
- Basic load securement principles
- Equipment and material tie-down procedures
- Safe trailer loading and unloading practices
- Loading and unloading equipment using ramps
- Safely operating equipment onto and off of trailers
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment, materials, and loads are secured safely and in accordance with applicable transportation and safety requirements.
Compliance & Vehicle Responsibility
Iron Horse Outdoor Services operates under British Columbia National Safety Code (NSC) requirements.
Drivers must be willing to:
- Maintain a clean driver's abstract
- Complete required pre-trip and vehicle inspections
- Complete daily driver logs and related documentation when required by provincial or federal regulations
- Operate company vehicles in compliance with National Safety Code requirements and applicable commercial vehicle regulations
- Report vehicle defects, maintenance concerns, and safety issues promptly
