Swine Technician position:
Location – Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba, Canada area
Full time – 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $16.50. Plus quarterly production bonus.

Porcherie Lac du Onze Ltee (PLDO), located in Notre Dame de Lourdes, in south-central Manitoba, is currently searching to fill the position of “Farm Labourer”. PLDO owns and operates 5,000 sows, including in-house multiplication, 17,000 nursery spaces, 36,000 finisher spaces, a feed mill and transportation.
The successful candidate will have a liking for working with animals, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be a part of a team . Weekend and holiday work is required on a rotational basis. No experience is required, and training will be provided. Only Canadian citizens, permanent residents or temporary residents with a valid work permit will be considered.
- To carry out the feeding of pigs in all sections and to gain an understanding of their nutritional needs.
- Process litters of newborn pigs.
- Pressure wash barns to a satisfactory standard.
- To understand the requirements of the welfare protocol of the farm.
- To perform artificial insemination.
- To move or sort pigs as needed
- To administer vaccinations or medications
- Loading and unloading pigs from livestock trailers
- To assist with feed mill duties such as unloading raw materials, loading trucks, refilling ingredients bins, and other duties as assigned
- To operate a telehandler and other farm equipment
- To wash livestock transport trailers to a satisfactory standard.
- To help maintain the section in a clean and tidy state.
- To perform minor repairs and maintenance
