About the role:

Reporting to the Manager ‑ 2C Cardiovascular & Regional Stroke Unit (RSU), you will be responsible for providing
quality nursing care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of
a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the
Philosophy and Values of Nursing Services and the policies of the Health Sciences Centre.
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* Current certification in BCLS
* Two years recent experience in acute care with a focus on Cardiovascular and/or Acute Stroke Nursing
* Certification, or recent continuing education in Cardiovascular Nursing and/or Neuroscience Nursing
In addition, applicants must have skill and experience in the following elements of nursing practice:
* Physical Assessment
* Intravenous Therapy and Intravenous Initiation
* Central Venous Line Management
* Aseptic Technique and Body Substance Precautions
* Practicing as a partner on multidisciplinary teams
* Patient and family teaching
* Critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution
In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:
* Have completed Lead II Arrhythmia Interpretation course
* Have completed Hemispheres e‑learning modules, or commit to complete within one year
* Have experience in caring for patients with:
* Pre‑and‑post PCI (angioplasty)
* Coronary artery disease
* Cardioversion
* Permanent pacemaker insertion
* Palliative inotropes
* Transient ischemic attack (TIA)
* Ischemic stroke
* Hemorrhagic stroke
* Canadian Neurologic Stroke Scale assessments
Salary Range: $41.150 to 58.980
