The Opportunity
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly organized, and tech-forward Operations & Accounting Specialist to join our Markham team.
In this role, you will serve as a vital operational engine—supporting our Canadian Account Managers/CFOs, liaising with our global delivery teams, and ensuring daily financial workflows for our enterprise construction clients run seamlessly.
This position offers rapid career progression for a ambitious professional looking to move beyond traditional bookkeeping and develop into a Fractional Controller or Construction Advisory Consultant.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable & Compliance: Oversee digital invoice processing via automation platforms, manage approval workflows, prepare AP aging reports, and review subcontractor lien waivers/pay-apps.
- Accounts Receivable: Prepare billing packages, manage invoicing, and perform AR aging analysis for high-volume commercial projects.
- Payroll & Time Tracking: Reconcile field employee time entries, handle payroll postings, and assist with job-cost allocations.
- Banking & Reconciliations: Perform bank and credit card entries, reconciliations, and routine month-end GL postings.
Global Hub & Workflow Coordination:
- Support onshore Account Managers by coordinating daily task flow and quality-checking deliverables from our offshore execution hub.
- Act as a reliable operational bridge between client requests, Canadian CFO leads, and back-office processors.
Client Engagement & Advisory Support:
- Serve as a professional, responsive point of contact for daily client accounting inquiries.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial packages, WIP (Work in Progress) schedules, and ad-hoc analytical reports.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: College Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in full-cycle bookkeeping, AP/AR, or accounting support (construction industry experience is a major asset).
- Tech Savvy: Comfortable leveraging modern cloud platforms and advanced accounting software.
- Experience or willingness to master enterprise ERPs like Jonas Premier, as well as QuickBooks Online, Procore, Dext, and Wagepoint.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data management).
- Communication & Professionalism: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; comfortable speaking directly with business owners, vendors, and internal team members.
- Detail & Process-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
