Gardewine is a Manitoba company, with terminals across Canada and a strong history that dates back to the 1950’s. Since being founded in the northern community of Flin Flon we have grown significantly by diversifying within the transportation industry. We are currently seeking a Foreman to join our team in our Thunder Bay Terminal.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Receive a copy of the Backlog Control that will contain additional “unplanned work” that has a lower priority but can be used by the Foreman in the eventuality that some of planned work is completed ahead of schedule
· Begin a tour of each bay to assess the status of the job, communicate with the mechanic the estimate for the job and discuss their ability to meet the standard, review with the mechanic any potential problems, assess the availability of parts and offer recommendations on repair techniques that may improve quality and productivity
· Responsible for providing shunting pick-up and delivery services to the mechanics
· Have an on-going understanding of the stage of each job and capitalize on those jobs that are about to be completed by ensuring that the next assignment is queued up and that parts and tooling are available.
· Be aware of warranty coverage, and inform mechanics of warranty jobs
· Meet with Tractor Shop Supervisor each day to review the previous day’s shift in terms of the efficiency ratios, personnel issues, etc.
· Supports all Safety & Health initiatives for the safety of all drivers, customers and other terminal employees by following all safety policies and procedures including the incident reporting system.
Qualifications
Must have a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, and Heavy Duty Mechanic 310T certification. The ability to control the flow of work, and identify and solve problems as they arise. Work as a leader amongst the team, and ensure profitability by the use of effective leadership, guidance, mentoring and scheduling of jobs in priority.
Physical Requirements
Some of the physical demands may include, but not be limited to: pro-longed sitting and using a computer and telephone for entire shift etc.
