No Limits Underground Ltd. is looking for an experienced Sewer & Water Top Man to join our underground construction crews.
We are looking for someone who understands sewer and water construction, can keep the excavation organized, and works effectively with the pipelayer, operators, foreman, and labourers to keep production moving safely.
Responsibilities
- Work as Top Man on sewer and water installations, renewals, and repairs
- Support the pipelayer and excavation crew from surface
- Prepare and send pipe, fittings, valves, hydrants, services, bedding, and other materials into the excavation
- Properly rig pipe, trench boxes, fittings, and materials for lifting
- Assist with setting and moving trench boxes and shoring systems
- Maintain proper bedding and backfill materials and coordinate with equipment operators
- Keep required pipe, fittings, tools, and materials organized and ready ahead of the crew
- Assist with watermain, sewer, hydrant, valve, and service installations
- Assist with pressure testing, chlorination, flushing, and commissioning as required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around the excavation
- Understand excavation hazards and maintain safe access and egress
- Perform daily equipment, rigging, and tool inspections as required
- Communicate effectively with the foreman, pipelayer, operators, truck drivers, and other crew members
- Help identify problems before they slow down production
- Follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and project-specific requirements
- Perform general labour duties as required
Qualifications
- Previous sewer and water construction experience required
- Previous experience as a Top Man is strongly preferred
- Good understanding of underground pipe installation and excavation operations
- Experience with PVC watermain, sewer pipe, fittings, valves, hydrants, and services
- Experience with trench boxes, shoring, rigging, and lifting operations
- Able to identify common sewer and water fittings and materials
- Comfortable working around excavators, loaders, backhoes, compactors, and other heavy equipment
- Physically capable of performing demanding construction work in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's licence preferred
- Class 3 licence considered an asset
- Ground Disturbance, First Aid, Confined Space, and other safety certifications considered assets
