Russell Hendrix Foodservice Equipment is looking for a Crater to join our Quest manufacturing team in Winnipeg. Quest Metal Products is our in-house manufacturing division, producing custom stainless steel fabrications and gas appliances and the Crater plays an essential role in making sure every product leaves our facility safely and arrives at its destination in perfect condition. This role is a great fit for a tradesperson or someone with hands-on manufacturing experience who takes pride in precise, quality work and is eager to grow within a skilled team. What You'll Do
Crating (Primary Function)
- Build and assemble crates following established crating procedures and safety standards
- Wrap, secure, and protect products into wood crates to ensure safe transport and prevent damage
- Accurately measure, cut, and prepare materials required for crate assembly
- Process all required paperwork and maintain accurate records for reporting and tracking
- Prepare and schedule shipments as assigned
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures and contribute to a healthy and safe workplace
Shipping & Receiving (Secondary Function)
- Assist with preparing and scheduling shipments when required
- Maintain crating, shipping, and transportation documentation in an organized manner
- Confirm quantities of goods received and process incoming shipments accurately
- Coordinate daily transportation needs with carriers and couriers
- Oversee the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries
- Track shipments and verify receipts as required
- Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Sort and distribute incoming shipments
- Perform quality audits of incoming and outgoing goods prior to signing off
- Ensure shipments contain proper documentation and complete item lists
- Problem-solve for any cases of missing documents, shipments, and deliveries
Where You'll Work
This is a full-time, onsite role based at the Quest manufacturing facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. You'll work within a fast-paced, hands-on environment alongside a skilled manufacturing team, with strict timelines and a strong culture of safety and quality. This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate to heavy loads on a regular basis.
What You Bring
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in a crating role or similar manufacturing environment
- Alternatively, 1+ years of experience in shipping in a manufacturing environment combined with carpentry or crating experience will be considered
- Working knowledge of safe packing methods
Skills and Abilities
- Carpentry skills, including experience building wood crates
- Skilled in accurate measuring and cutting
- Strong attention to detail across all aspects of crating, documentation, and shipment verification
- Committed to workplace safety, for yourself and your teammates
- Organized and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Excel and email
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude
