KPCL is looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Maintenance Supervisor to join our maintenance leadership team at our Clavet, Saskatchewan facility. In this role, you will be required to travel to remote project sites throughout Western Canada to support project-based maintenance teams. Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager based in Estevan, Saskatchewan, you will lead and mentor maintenance staff across all operations.
As the Heavy Duty Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring a fully operational fleet to support the successful completion of large earthworks projects.

Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leadership and Training: Lead maintenance staff, providing guidance, teaching and evaluating apprentices.
- Collaboration: Work with, and take direction, from the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Senior Leadership to plan and schedule maintenance team and maintenance for equipment.
- Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to assess performance and identify issues, documenting inspections in Preventative Maintenance system.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot systems:
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing systems – for example hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical – to identify faults and perform cost-effective repairs. Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired. Test repaired equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Documentation and reporting: Document all maintenance and repair tasks, utilizing tablets and computers for accurate record-keeping. Order parts and complete work orders (KPCL uses HCSS Equipment 360 Fleet Maintenance).
- Safety leadership and compliance: Promote and foster a culture of safety and compliance within KPCL’s health, safety and environmental program. Lead morning toolbox meetings and weekly safety meetings, documenting outcomes. Hold yourself and others accountable for adhere to company (and client) policies, procedures, and provincial regulatory requirements in both shop and project site settings.
- Permitting for loads: Permit overweight and dimension loads for the lowbed division as needed. Helping to secure or provide resources to prepare and load equipment for mobilization.
- Travel and flexibility: Be prepared to work additional hours and travel to other locations as necessary to meet the demands of the role.
- Additional responsibilities: Perform any other duties as assigned, adapting to the evolving needs of the organization and resolving issues arising in the field on a timely basis.
Qualifications
What You Bring
- Minimum of 5 years post-Journeyperson experience or Red Seal Accreditation, prior experience in a related discipline such as servicing, fuel/ lube technician may be considered
- Experience developing work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired, scheduling and monitoring maintenance team throughout completion
- Proficiency in working with large haul trucks, dozers, graders, excavators, and scrapers; previous experience with heavy trucks and trailers (safety certification for trailers is an asset)
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, experience with CAT SIS is an asset
- Proficient in reading electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while demonstrating professional work behaviors
- Commitment to continuous learning and skill development
- Basic knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to improvise and adapt to the evolving needs of the project location
