Job Summary
Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Nursing is responsible for the efficient operations of the Nursing Department and in keeping compliance with the Fixing Long Term Care Homes Act, 2021 and other pertinent legislation affecting the efficient operation of the nursing department.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
Overseeing all nursing related issues in the Long Term Care Home.
Manages and provides leadership to the nursing department. Maintain and implement nursing policy and procedure manuals and work routine for nursing department including mission philosophy of care, goals and objectives, CQI program, mandatory programs and annual program evaluations in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Maintains an active presence in the home to ensure the safety and quality of service provision, adherence to policies and procedures, and the effectiveness of systems and processes.
Implements risk management related activities for the nursing department to optimize resident safety and mitigate risk related to training, equipment, systems and processes, regulations and legislation.
Ensures Occupational Health & Safety policies, programs and practices are implemented, and maintained. Ensure goods and services are acquired in accordance with the procurement policy.
Education and Training requirements
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
Post-Secondary graduate studies in nursing, nursing administration or geriatrics an asset
3 years of current related experience in a Long Term Care Home desirable
3 years of current related experience in management desirable
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills is preferred.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $110,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
