GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Responsible for providing electrical engineering expertise to the Maintenance and Vehicle Engineering Departments on matters relating to the safe, efficient and cost-effective repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles.
Provides engineering advice in the design and layouts of systems for new facilities and conducts associated feasibility studies.
Conducts a variety of studies related to maintenance programs including fleet suitability, cost comparisons, component failure and performance indicators.
Designs specifications for the computerized Vehicle Maintenance System (VMS).
Makes presentations to outside groups as required.
Establishes CMBC warranty claim policy and procedures with supply vendors.
Prepares warranty claims including technical back-up reports when necessary, relating to new vehicles, rebuilt components and new parts and pursues claims to final resolution.
Administers the warranty claims function by maintaining associated records, following up on outstanding claims and expediting settlements, negotiating settlement terms and liaising with shop superintendents to ensure repairs are completed according to specifications.
Monitors repeat failure of new vehicle components to support warranty claims. Responsible for the selection, training, motivation, and performance management of Mechanical Engineering Co-op students.
