SENIOR PROGRAMMER ANALYST

DUTIES
Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of CHIA, the successful applicant will be responsible for support and development related activities for projects under the Translational and Personalized Medicine Initiative (TPMI). The successful applicant will be responsible for conferring with outside partners, faculty, staff and students of the TPMI to identify computer program problems or requirements for computer programs and to propose and or implement solutions to these problems. Specific duties include developing and documenting computer systems for use in research, clinical practice, teaching and or administrative systems; developing, designing and maintaining relational databases as required; identifying and implementing computer software applications obtained from external sources; Development of web based applications that integrate with a Linux/UNIX operating environment, utilizing Node.js, PostgreSQL, providing reusable components and tools that meet current web design and security standards. Integrating applications by designing database architectures and server scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers. The successful applicant should have excellent verbal and written communications skills so they can communicate with others about the work they are performing on the application.

QUALIFICATIONS
Considerable experience (3-5 years) in the design and development of computer programs, completion of an undergraduate degree with major course work in computer science or software development; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Completion of a Masters in a related are would be considered an asset. Experience in programming with Node.js, Python, jQuery, or equivalent languages and libraries, along with design using CSS, and HTML5 is required. A thorough knowledge of Linux/UNIX based application and operating systems as well as experience with web based application security, network protocols and communication standards is also required. Experience in test-driven development, IBM DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and a demonstrated working knowledge of secure coding practices that ensure confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of data would be an asset.

SALARY $57,146 - $77,923 per annum (Management and Professional)
