Benefit Cosmetics Canada is looking for a full-time, temporary National Account Manager – Shoppers Drug Mart to join the Benefit Canada Head Office team.
The National Account Manager shares responsibility for achieving retail and net sales objectives for Canadian retail distribution through the effective development and management of retail sales and distribution plans by account. He/she is responsible for the day-to-day management of Benefit Canada retail accounts including Category/Inventory relationships; retail sales plans and strategies that support Benefit Canada sales goals; analysis of weekly/monthly sales results including new and existing product performance, forecasting and inventory management; management and execution of RTV’s and associated financial risk; implementation of price increases; new door openings etc. This role will work closely and collaboratively with all members of the Benefit Canada Field Support Team (FST) in the planning and execution of activities and initiatives that support the achievement of overall Benefit Canada priorities and objectives by account, including Analytics/Operations, Marketing/PR, Visual Merchandising, Training and sales support to the Canada team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Retail Strategies and Partnerships-
Develop and manage positive relationships with Category, Marketing and Inventory teams at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Develop annual retail sales budget that supports Benefit Canada priorities, comp performance objectives, and overall retail growth objectives.
Own, develop and implement sales and distribution strategies to support established retail budgets.
Complete and deliver business reviews that summarize relevant sales metrics and KPI’s; Benefit brand and retail priorities/objectives; key promotions, events, opportunities etc.; and support the ongoing strategic planning behind Benefit Canada’s retail sales budgets and market share objectives.
Support and attend internal meetings to preview Benefit global new product and collateral launches, forecasting requests, merchandising updates etc., and incorporate into strategies.
Create, plan and implement new and existing sales initiatives on an annual and seasonal basis in conjunction with retail partners and the Benefit Canada FST.
Identify and negotiate incremental points of sale to support Benefit Canada sales targets, growth opportunities, and market share.
Drive profitable Benefit business through effective collaboration, planning, and identification of opportunities with retail partner and Benefit Canada including retail coverage and distribution, Education, Visual Merchandising, Marketing/PR etc.
Complete Loblaws Article Workflow transactions per launch. Complete Vendorboard delisted items as required by set timelines.
Submit MOG request forms for all new launches including Small Wonders and Top Picks MOG request forms. Create and maintain W5 documents for all launch items.
Collaborate with FST in developing discontinuation strategies and timing.
Maintain price lists for SDM.
Develop Financial Sales and Supply Plans
Collaborate with Sales and Marketing in the planning of promotions and events to assist Operations and Finance in forecasting sales by sku, including incremental POS opportunities by account.
Develop strategy for new launches; collaborate with Sales and Marketing to forecast pipe, initial sell-through, and annual sell-through for all newness.
Communicate effectively to Category and Inventory retail partner teams, the needs of Benefit Canada as it pertains to inventory levels, timely order flow, and general business and sales support; identify and communicate opportunities for business growth and development.
Monitor supply levels by SKU and door to ensure optimum inventory balance.
Work with category and inventory teams to resolve purchase order irregularities.
Monitor sales of new launches to ensure immediate reorders as necessary.
Communicate significant changes by SKU item to Operations team as necessary based on emerging trend or upcoming events.
Manage risk of overstock at door level; minimize RTV liability of Benefit Canada.
Analyze weekly and monthly sales results vs. forecasted sales and supply; work with accounts team to adjust inventory levels to support retail sales goals proactively and as necessary.
Receive weekly and monthly sales results by door and incorporate into sales management tools. Report weekly, monthly, and annual comp door performance, new door performance, and total Benefit Canada performance by account while comparing to established retail sales budgets.
Own weekly sales reports to discuss performance, issues, and opportunities by account with Benefit team. Share report findings at weekly team meetings.
Collaborate with Manager and Sales Team to determine the viability of new door openings based on opportunity, location, proximity to existing doors, and overall strategy of Benefit Canada.
Work with Divisional Managers and Planners in new door openings; write suggested opening orders based on projected volume. Coordinate corporate activity in support of openings: collaborate with Analytics/Operations, Visual Merchandising, Marketing/PR, Training, and Canada Sales Team to execute opening strategies.
Collaborate with Marketing/PR Manager to plan and execute both national and regional events that maximize impact, awareness and sales of ‘A’ product introductions. Anniversary key product launches and events; leverage partner opportunities with each retailer.
Maintain Benefit CLP for Shoppers Drug Mart.
Complete and analyze the ROI for each National Event complete with a post mortem to measure success against objectives; distribute to FSD, RM’s, RAMs/REMs
Collaborate with Manager and Marketing/PR Manager to coordinate, prepare and deliver Seasonal Marketing Presentations to each retail partner that summarize relevant sales metrics and KPI’s, Benefit brand and retail priorities/objectives, new seasonal product introductions, seasonal buying and retail plans, key events, opportunities etc.
In collaboration with Marketing/PR Manager, develop and maintain SDM P&L budget on items Promotional and Co-operative agreement.
Collaborate with Visual Merchandising Manager to plan quarterly updates by account. Strategically and effectively incorporate new SKU’s into planograms, while removing discontinued SKU’s.
Collaborate with Visual Merchandising Manager and Creative Manager in the design of promotional assets and inserts to support strategies and calendars by account.
Obtain retailer approval of merchandising collateral as required with lead time that supports workback schedule of 16-20 weeks.
Follow up, manage and deliver against agreed-to next steps that support retail sales goals, initiatives, events and business development by account.
Report on account goals, results and action plans weekly and monthly to Manager.
Meet deadlines and administrative components of all day-to-day account management responsibilities timely and effectively.
Meet timelines, expectations and administrative needs of collaborative efforts with FST; report updates by account at monthly FST meetings.
Manage all company expenses within parameters set forth in T&E Policy.

2-3 years Account Management or retail marketing experience
University degree essential
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.

Strong interpersonal, negotiation and presentation abilities
Excellent planning and organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to influence all levels of the organization
Adept at problem solving
Flexibility to travel within Canada and the US is occasionally required
