Ready to break free from the ordinary? Kehoe Marine Construction is now hiring a Licensed Automotive Mechanic to join our team. In this exciting role, no day is ever the same. Expect to work on a variety of equipment, including our boats, tugs, trucks, and heavy equipment. This position offers consistent opportunity to learn and grow.
As a Mechanic at Kehoe, you'll play a crucial role in working with the team to maintain our fleet of equipment. You'll be responsible for diagnosing and performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing a wide range of equipment, vehicles and machinery. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring our operations run smoothly and efficiently.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
- Inspects and diagnoses a wide variety of automotive, construction and marine equipment
- Operates basic hand tools and powered hand tools (i.e., drills, disc grinders, etc.).
- Maintains equipment, repairs, fabricates and/or replaces defective parts.
- Tests repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets specifications.
- Services, repairs and/or overhauls diesel engines, mechanical and hydraulic transmissions.
- Performs safety checks for fleet vehicles and all maintenance services
- Services, repairs and/or overhauls hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Cleans, lubricates, and performs other maintenance work.
- Executes workplan as designated by the Equipment Manager
- Ensures proper techniques are utilized to achieve the highest possible workmanship and quality of work.
- Works with the team to ensure that daily and weekly activities meet production goals.
- Clearly communicates information or questions to the team
- Mentors, trains and coaches junior staff, including apprentices.
- Follows work standards and behavioural expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity while representing the company to the best of their ability.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Ensures that work is conducted in an environmentally responsible manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Primarily works in a mechanic shop
- Must be able to perform the essential duties of the job, including bending, kneeling, climbing a ladder, standing, twisting, and reaching above head level.
- Occasionally works on job sites and on boats/barges on water.
- Exposure to all elements – summer heat, rain etc.
- Standing and walking for long periods of time. Ability to perform physically demanding work.
- Ability to communicate verbally and read in English.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 + years of experience as a Licensed Automotive Mechanic (310S or 310T), including experience with a wide variety of diesel and gasoline-operated equipment/vehicles preferred
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license required. A-Restricted license considered an asset
- Strong mechanical skills and problem-solving abilities required
- Experience in welding preferred and/or the willingness to learn
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Diagnostic skills required for multiple types of equipment, including preventative maintenance programs
- Experience with diesel engines considered a significant asset
- Knowledgeable in heavy equipment, and/or marine equipment including Caterpillar, John Deere etc. an asset, or must be willing to learn.

- Participates in safety and skill training including but not limited to: Marine First Aid, Forklift Training, Working at Heights, etc.
