Armacell Canada Inc. is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and self-directed individual to fill the position of Process Engineer for our Workplace Organization Pillar. The Process Engineer is a key member of the Brampton Plant Engineering team, supporting the Engineering Manager with direct reporting to the Plant Manager.
This position includes leading the WO (Workplace Organization) Pillar and is responsible for providing leadership and support to the engineering team and production to create a safe, healthy, productive, and good quality workplace, eliminating wastes (MUDA), overburden (MURI), and unevenness (MURA) by following Total Industrial Engineering Principles, and WCM methodologies.
This role is accountable for championing the Workplace Organization Pillar including continuous training, implementing process improvement projects, supporting the implementation of World Class Manufacturing, and ensuring the effective management of cost reduction activities for manufacturing and driving continuous improvement and support of our growth initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Process Engineering
- Appraise, measure, analyze production processes for improvement and optimization to reduce losses (Muri, Mura, Muda), and 7 wastes by following Total Industrial Engineering principles.
- Search for best practices and innovative solutions which could improve production efficiency and product quality performance.
- Lead and drive Kaizen projects and activities within WCM WO pillars.
- Manage, coach, support all 5S/Visual Control related activities and projects.
- Have an open mind for understanding the impact across all areas of the business and all WCM pillars.
- Support engineering initiatives related to Equipment Design & Replacement, Cost Savings, Product Development, Volume Growth, Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety as required.
- Provide coaching and support to shift supervisors and crews including studies, investigations, and problem solving.
Health & Safety

- Through root cause analysis, participate / lead and drive corrective actions regarding safety / environment issues.

- Lead the WO pillar in support of implementation of WCM methodologies in pursuit of best-in-class operational performance.

- Support Armacell vision through execution of mission map objectives.
World Class Manufacturing (WAM - World Class Armacell Mindset)
- Support all WAM initiatives and participate in WCM audits.
- Drive a world class mindset by ensuring team members are actively involved in WCM tool usage, driving cultural changes throughout the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering discipline, Master’s degree is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience in plastic product manufacturing environment, with minimum 3 years working at Industrial engineer role
- Proven knowledge and experience with WCM or Lean Manufacturing methodologies for Workplace Organization, including Value Stream Mapping (VSM), VA / NVA measurement, 5S program, Visual Control, SMED, JIT, OEE, SWOT, Poka-Yoke (error proofing), line layout design, time study techniques, 5Why root cause analysis.
- Structured in-depth thinking, ability to organize and analyze facts, develop and communicate plans directed at achieving business objectives through teams and others.
- Effective written/verbal communication skill, analytical skills, and good judgment showing logical decision making with a hands-on approach.
- Good leadership skills and team spirit.
- Strong knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, AutoCAD preferred.
- Proven project management skills and deadline driven.
