Nasittuq is currently bidding on the contract for the Operation & Maintenance of the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.

The Environmental Services Officer is responsible for establishing, directing, and controlling programs to ensure good environmental practices on the North Warning System, and to promote environmental awareness among Nasittuq staff.
Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and territorial legislation.
Establish and maintain an Environmental Management System, in compliance with ISO 14000 requirements
Act as the key point of contact on behalf of Nasittuq for external agencies, particularly: Environment Canada and the Nunavut Water Board (NWB)
Administer NWB licenses
Establish and maintain a Corporate Environmental Protection Plan for the NWS
Oversee the annual NWS site environmental inspections, and ensure that the associated reports are prepared, and recommendations actioned as appropriate
Develop programs for environmental training as required for Nasittuq personnel, including Environmental Awareness, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
Review engineering designs for environmental compliance
Coordinate spill investigations, prepare and submit subsequent reports, and recommend corrective actions where applicable
Prepare monthly reports regarding environmental incidents
Post-secondary degree or diploma in the Sciences
Certified Canadian Environmental Practitioner or eligible for designation as a Certified Canadian Environmental Practitioner
Ten (10) years of direct experience in the provision of environmental services
Adaptability and ability to manage priorities with attention to detail and work cross-culturally
Familiar with ISO 14001 standard and certification process
Computer literate in MS applications, strong written and verbal communication skills
Candidates must be Canadian citizens, be eligible for SECRET security clearance and pass a pre-employment medical
