Future lawyer in Toronto? Spend a year or so on the front lines of real civil disputes before law school.
We are seeking an aspiring law student to join our firm as a legal assistant to provide excellent customer service to our current and prospective clients.
Powell Litigation is a boutique litigation firm that assists individuals and small to medium-sized businesses with a host of interesting litigation matters, including real estate disputes, business disputes, defamation, and debt collection.
The successful candidate will receive extended health benefits, vision benefits, dental care, a small life insurance policy, interesting and challenging work, and friendly and helpful co-workers.
What We Are Looking For
The right person will be friendly, professional, and an excellent listener. They will be a "people" person and enjoy talking with clients and prospective clients on the phone.
They will also be a hard worker, a good writer, and the sort of self-starter that doesn’t require supervision to do a great job.
What Your Day to Day Would Look Like
You will be on the front lines, so-to-speak, and will hear people's most pressing legal problems as they call us to see how we can help. You would be responsible for answering calls from current and prospective clients, conducting conflict checks, scheduling initial consultations, and acting as a general point of contact between employees, clients, and various third parties.
You would also assist the lawyers at the firm with various administrative tasks. This is an exceptional opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in law, as you will be joining a team of four other legal assistants who are also applying to law school. It is common for outstanding legal assistants to eventually go on to law school and return as summer law students at the firm.
Next Steps
We thank all candidates for applying, but will only be reaching out if you have been selected for an interview. If hired, you will be a part of one of the best legal teams in Canada.
