Screed Operator – Economy Paving
Location: Based out of Calgary – Possible Travel required (out-of-town & out-of-province)
Economy Paving is looking for an experienced Screed Operator to join our paving crew. If you know your way around a paver, take pride in laying smooth, consistent mat, and don't mind hitting the road for out-of-town work, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Operate the screed on asphalt paving equipment to achieve proper grade, slope, and mat thickness
- Monitor and adjust screed settings (crown, thickness, extensions) to meet job specs
- Work closely with the paver operator, rakers, and rollers to keep the paving operation running smoothly
- Perform pre- and post-operation equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Read and interpret grade stakes, plans, and paving specifications
- Help troubleshoot mat quality issues (segregation, tearing, texture) on the fly
- Follow all job site safety protocols
What You Bring
- Proven hands-on experience operating a screed
- Solid, working knowledge of paving operations from start to finish
- Ability and willingness to travel for out-of-town and out-of-province projects, sometimes for extended periods
- Strong understanding of asphalt paving equipment and processes
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work well as part of a crew
- Valid driver's license will be considered an asset
