Join Our Team as a Mixer Driver in Prince George
Kode Concrete is hiring an experienced Mixer Operator to join our ready-mix delivery fleet. You will be responsible for transporting and discharging ready-mix concrete to residential, commercial, and civil construction sites throughout our service area. This is a physically active, customer-facing role that requires strong driving skills, mechanical awareness, and a commitment to delivering a quality product every time.
Key Responsibilities
Driving & Delivery
- Safely operate a ready-mix concrete truck (Transit Mixer) in compliance with the BC Motor Vehicle Act and all company policies.
- Transport and deliver ready-mix concrete to job sites according to dispatch instructions, maintaining scheduled delivery windows.
- Navigate job sites safely, including tight access areas, uneven terrain, and active construction zones.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections as required under the National Safety Code and company standards.
- Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all traffic laws and load restrictions.
Mixer Operation & Product Quality
- Monitor drum rotation speed and water content throughout transit to maintain concrete consistency and slump specifications.
- Add water or admixtures at the job site only as authorized by dispatch, and document any adjustments accurately on the batch ticket.
- Discharge concrete efficiently and safely using chutes, extensions, or pump connections as required by site conditions.
- Confirm load accuracy with the batch ticket and communicate any discrepancies to dispatch immediately.
- Wash out the drum and chutes thoroughly after each delivery in designated wash-out areas only.
Customer Service & Communication
- Represent Kode Concrete professionally at all times when interacting with contractors, site supervisors, and the public.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch regarding site conditions, delays, access issues, or product concerns.
- Obtain signatures on delivery tickets and ensure accurate documentation is returned to the plant at day’s end.
Equipment & Safety
- Report any mechanical defects, damage, or safety concerns to the Operations Supervisor immediately and complete required defect reports.
- Participate in all required safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training programs.
- Maintain compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and Kode Concrete Health & Safety policies at all times.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks as directed (greasing, fluid checks, drum cleaning).
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- Valid BC Class 3 driver’s licence with Air Brake (Q) endorsement — minimum requirement.
- Clean driver’s abstract (ICBC driving record will be requested).
- Minimum 2 years of commercial truck driving experience.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing, lifting hoses and chutes, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple deliveries per shift.
- Professional communication skills and a customer service orientation.
- Ability to read and follow delivery tickets, site instructions, and safety documentation.
- Must be willing to become a member in good standing of Teamsters Local Union No. 213 within 14 days of hire.
Preferred (Assets)
- BC Class 1 driver’s licence with Air Brake endorsement.
- Previous ready-mix concrete driving experience.
- Experience operating front discharge or rear discharge transit mixer trucks.
- WHMIS and/or TDG certification.
- First Aid certification (OFA Level 1 or higher).
Compensation & Benefits:
- Union Membership: Candidates will be required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from the candidates pay. The terms and conditions of employment will be governed by the collective agreement.
