$23.450 to $27.438 per hour (2019 rates of pay)
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.

Successful applicants will be added to the list of casual Teacher Assistants used to staff current and on-going
requirements within the municipal child care centres.
Child Care casual staff are expected to make themselves available for full or partial shifts at any of the ten
(10) centers within the municipality.
Some Centres require French language skills only
Community and Social Services
Under the direction of the Child Care Supervisor or the teacher in charge, is responsible for assisting in
providing planned daily activities to children enrolled in the program
Education & Experience
A minimum of six (6) weeks experience working with children 6 weeks to 10 years of age in a group setting
such as a summer camp, recreational program, a field placement or child care centre
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for
stipulated academic requirements.
Language, Certificates & Licenses
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check to the City of Ottawa’s
Current Standard First Aid, CPR (C) and AED Defibrillator certifications
Proof of updated immunization required.
Locations may require French only OR Bilingual competencies.

Appropriate behaviour management techniques
Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

Communicate effectively with children, parents and staff
Supervise children in their play activities and routines
