They supply wholesale customers and operate a retail garden center, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and sustainable growing practices. Our client is looking for a Head Grower to lead their commercial ornamental greenhouse operation.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee the production of exceptional, market-ready crops that meet high-quality standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the growing team, including Grower Assistants and maintenance staff.
- Manage crop health through irrigation, nutrient management, environmental monitoring, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Closely monitor crops and respond quickly to issues related to quality, pests, disease, nutrition, and environmental conditions.
- Ensure crops are ready for shipping during their scheduled weeks.
- Reduce avoidable crop shrink and improve consistency across crop groups.
- Maintain greenhouse facilities and equipment in a safe, clean, and fully operational condition.
- Establish and complete preventative maintenance for irrigation and growing systems.
- Ensure full compliance with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s Greenhouse Certification Program (CFIA GCP) and maintain audit readiness.
- Collaborate effectively with administration, production, and ownership teams.
- Identify and implement practical improvements to growing practices, crop quality, and greenhouse performance.

Qualifications:
- Experience in commercial greenhouse growing, preferably with a diverse range of ornamental crops.
- Experience leading a substantial greenhouse growing operation.
- Strong plant knowledge and crop-observation skills.
- Advanced understanding of irrigation, plant nutrition, environmental management, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Ability to diagnose crop problems, determine root causes, and take timely corrective action.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with greenhouse environmental-control systems.
- Knowledge of Canadian ornamental greenhouse production and the CFIA Greenhouse Certification Program is an asset.
