The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality facility services to the client site(s) and typically reports directly to the Division Manager. This position is responsible for managing and delivering full management solutions including safety compliance, people and resources, project execution, profit/loss outcomes, and ultimately the performance in the budget, schedule, general performance, and profitability.

Serve as relationship manager to our key customers; engage them on both operational and strategic levels
Plan, organize, manage, and evaluate operations contracts and capital projects from conception to completion according to schedule, specifications, and budget
Oversee project financial performance, i.e., accounts receivables, work in progress, and budget
Develop, review, and publish various project reports
Hire, supervise, and coach the activities of subordinate unionized and non-unionized staff
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
Adherence to and implementation of health, safety, quality control, and environment policies and programs
Direct the purchase of supplies and materials
Other duties as assigned

Degree or Diploma in

Project Management
Construction Engineering Technology
Construction Management
Electrical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Civil Engineering
Building Automation Systems
HVAC Systems
The following certifications/designations are considered an asset

PMP designation
Gold Seal Certification
Construction safety certifications
10 years of experience as a tradesperson in the electrical trade may substitute for education requirements.

5+ years experience with a multi-trade contractor in the construction sector, ideally in Utilities/Substations
Experience managing substation projects

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:
Contract management
Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
Blue print reading
Project structural design interpretation
Financial statements – read and comprehend
Established utilities practices, procedures and techniques
Applicable local and provincial labour codes
Managing / leading union and nonunion staff
Business operations processes
Organization and time management

Proficient user of:
MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system
DSI platform
Willing and able to travel to project sites within Canada and sometimes the United States as necessary
Maintain a valid driver's licence
Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearances based on project requirements
