The Gear Centre is currently recruiting for the position of Business Consultant at our Remanufacturing Division in Edmonton.
Position Overview
The Business Consultant will play a crucial role in optimizing operational efficiency at our remanufacturing centers, focusing on cost reduction while ensuring high-quality standards. This role involves analyzing processes, developing innovative systems, and implementing solutions across multiple locations to drive consistency and improve profitability.
Shift Information: Full-time, permanent position Monday to Friday, daytime 40 hours
Work Environment: Office setting, on-site visits, travel, rewarding collaborative environment
Hourly Wage: $46.16 - $57.69 per hour
Location: 11635 - 156 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5M 3T8

Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze complete rebuilding process at our main remanufacturing centre and make recommendations on lowering cost of production while still maintaining quality standards.
- Once this system has been designed and implemented travel to outlying rebuilding branches to monitor that these processes and procedures are implemented for consistent practices.
- Design a unit down inventory resource to alleviate the wait time for parts at the remanufacturing centre to increase productivity.
- Design and implement a used inventory tracking and usage program to both reduce the cost of our rebuilding process and mitigate the parts shortage at our retail branches.
- Suggest ways with management to improve the profitability of the re manufacturing process.
- Suggest ways for improvements to the core procurement process.
- Design a process to identify new parts and products within the industry that should be analyzed for possible aftermarket offerings.
- Design and implement a proper rebuilt unit inventory analytics tool to identify both inventory requirements and production timing.
- Use industry knowledge to reassess our dirty core inventory and reduce redundancies
- Use industry experience to consult with purchasing manager to make inventory reduction recommendations.
- Use industry experience and connections to reduce surplus inventory.
- Use industry experience to design a proper dirty core evaluation tool for use at our retail branches.
- Analyze and make recommendations to value added options to help differentiate our unit product offering from that of our competitors.
- Demonstrate proficiency in complex ERP systems (e.g., CSD/Infor)
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in parts management, inventory control, or process optimization.
- Proven leadership in managing operations, teams, and inventory systems.
- Expertise in analyzing and improving production processes while reducing costs.
- Strong knowledge of procurement and inventory tracking systems, including ERP (e.g., CSD/Infor).
- Ability to recommend solutions for core procurement, used inventory, and surplus reduction.
- Experience identifying new parts and aftermarket opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with management and purchasing teams.
