Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and engaging Chess and Board Game Instructor to inspire and educate students of various ages. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in strategic games, excellent teaching abilities, and a friendly demeanor. This role involves guiding students through the fundamentals of chess and other popular board games, fostering critical thinking, sportsmanship, and fun learning experiences in a supportive environment. Responsibilities
- Teach the rules, strategies, and tactics of chess and other board games to students of different skill levels.
- Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to individual or group needs to promote active learning.
- Organize and supervise game sessions, tournaments, and practice matches to encourage participation and skill improvement.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and strategic thinking.
- Provide feedback and coaching to help students improve their game techniques.
- Maintain a safe and respectful space for all participants during lessons and activities.
- Assist with setting up game materials and ensuring equipment is well-maintained.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of chess rules, strategies, and tactics; familiarity with other popular board games is a plus.
- Excellent teaching skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in an understandable manner.
- Patience and enthusiasm for working with learners of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to motivate students and create an engaging learning environment.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Experience in teaching or coaching is preferred but not required; training will be provided if necessary.
- A background in swimming is considered a nice-to-have skill but is not essential for this role.
