JOB SUMMARY
Our client VRL Projects is looking for a Full-Time 4th Year Apprentice Electrician who supports the installation, termination and assembly of electrical systems, including conduit, cabling, equipment, panels, sensors and control devices. The electrical apprentice role assists with the construction and fabrication of control panels and systems, under the direction of a certified Journeyperson.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- 4th year Electrical Apprentice
- Valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
- Previous work experience in an industrial, commercial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Must be registered as an Apprentice Electrician with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) and actively enrolled in an approved trade school program.
- Valid Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate
- Previous work experience in an industrial, commercial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Valid driver's licence
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install and terminate conduit, cable, electrical equipment, panels, sensors and control components in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Assist with the construction and fabrication of control panels and perform rough‑in and finishing wiring for control systems.
- Install interlocking wiring and assist with wiring verification and checkout in accordance with applicable codes and specifications.
- Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical control circuits for motors and control devices.
- Support the preparation of material take‑offs and identification of required electrical equipment and components.
- Assist with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical isolation procedures in accordance with company safety policies.
- QA/QC assist with testing installed, repaired or modified equipment for proper operation and performance.
- Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Monitor electrical parts and materials usage and report any shortages, discrepancies or material issues to supervision.
- Support quality control checks and inspection readiness by ensuring work meets drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
- Perform assigned electrical tasks under the direction of a certified Journeyperson or designated supervisor in accordance with apprenticeship requirements.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Basic understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable standards.
- Ability to work to company safety protocols.
- Awareness of electrical safety practices and hazard recognition.
- Introductory ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics and specifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Highly adaptable, with strong interpersonal skills that support effective collaboration in a diverse work environment.
- Works effectively on individual tasks, maintaining productivity and accountability with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with basic set of tools.
- High attention to detail.
POSITION CONDITIONS
- The successful candidate must provide their own steel-toed safety boots, protective eye wear, hard hat, and gloves
