We are currently seeking a Design Engineer who will participate as a valuable member of the engineering team by working directly with the engineering staff to design, develop, and implement renewable natural gas (RNG). You will work directly with the engineering staff doing a variety of tasks related to developing the RNG fuel systems and will have the opportunity to learn the real-world application of design theory, product testing and process/project management. This position will be based out of our Kelowna, Canada office.
Job Summary
The Design Engineer is responsible for designing engineering and mechanical integration of components, using internal and external resources for program support.
Responsibilities

Generate complete mechanical manufacturing packages for suppliers, including 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, top-level BOMs, part and system-level specifications

Develop FEA models of mechanical parts and assemblies and perform static, dynamic, structural, and thermal-mechanical analysis

Participate in brainstorming sessions and other team meetings intended to define design priorities and performance goals based on client objectives.

Root cause and failure analysis of difficult mechanical problems.

Develop engineering specifications and create applicable processes to ensure design validation of critical issues

Research and propose innovative technology enablers (e.g., materials, manufacturing, and components) and recognize and target potential areas for patent protection

Write reports, develop presentations, and author technical proposals

Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
-
0-5 years of experience in product design or mechanical engineering
-
Experience with 3D CAD (Creo Parametric or SolidWorks or equivalent)
-
Experience in PLM/PDM software would be an asset (PTC Windchill, SolidWorks PDM or equivalent)
-
Experience with full product development cycle, including design, test, validation, and manufacturing

Proven experience in design-for-manufacturing (DFM), design-for-assembly (DFA) and design-for-disassembly (DFD).

Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, particularly solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer

Automotive experience is a definite asset

Must have strong problem-solving skills and a desire to create solutions.

Must have demonstrated and effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to professionally interact with internal and external customers

Prior experience working under tight deadlines with shifting priorities.

Must have above average MS Office skills

Valid passport with ability to travel internationally
