Delivery/Pickup Customer Service Associate
Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce, a non-profit, housing organization, builds affordable homes with families who currently live in substandard housing. Since 1987, we have built 81 homes throughout Grey and Bruce counties.
We are currently accepting applications for a part time Delivery/Pickup Customer Service Associate inOwen Sound.
Customer Service
· Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service as defined by the standard of:
acknowledging customers with a friendly greeting, responding politely to customers’ questions (this will require maintaining up to date HFHGB and product information) assisting customers’ with purchases (lifting, bagging, carrying purchases to customers’ vehicles)
· Assist customers who have products and electronic waste to donate
· Process customers’ orders (cash, debit/credit) following cash register procedures
Store Operations
· Follow safety practices; notify the Manager or their designate of a safety /hazardous issue
· Assist with unloading, processing and the display of products
· Product assembly and repair
· Assist with keeping the store safe, clean and orderly
· Assist volunteers as needed
· Other duties as assigned by the Manager-on-Duty (MOD)
Product Pick-up and Deliveries
· Work with the Driver and Salvage Coordinator to:
o Pick up products and conduct deliveries as directed by the Salvage Coordinator who determines the daily and weekly schedule
o Determine best route to maximize use of trucks
o Load and off-load product
o Ensure that each client contacted receives outstanding service as defined by the standard of: acknowledging with a friendly greeting, responding politely to questions
o Fill-in for the Driver and Salvage Coordinator when they are not scheduled to work
Truck Maintenance
· Assist the Driver and Salvage Coordinator to:
o Perform safety and maintenance checks as required
o Clean trucks as required
o Ensure trucks and equipment are safely and securely stored
Safety
· Drive HFHGB vehicles and use all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation
· Follow all HFHGB safe work practices, safety policies and procedures
· Notify the MOD of any safety /hazardous issues
Other
· Reflect a positive image of the organization
· Other duties as assigned by the Manager or their designate
Required Skills, Abilities and Experience
· Friendly, positive, energetic and reliable
· Secondary School diploma
· Minimum 1 year experience in retail customer service or related experience
· Valid full G Class driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract (zero offences & zero demerit points)
· Capable of working in a fast paced environment
· Ability to work independently and with others
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Able to use computer and cash register
· Physical ability to stand for extended periods; move and handle products of various size, shape and weight (up to 50 lbs.)
· Knowledge of home repairs, building materials and tools an asset
Working Conditions
· Part-time, up to 32 hours per week; work schedule may include Saturdays
· Work location: Owen Sound ReStore in Springmount
