Position Title: Presales Solutions Architect – Hybrid Data Center
The Presales Solutions Architect (SA) drives customer initiatives for Hybrid Data Center solutions in collaboration with the Stratiform/PCM Canada Sales teams. This includes influencing the sale, deployment, and adoption of Data Center infrastructure and services – solutions and architectures around virtualization, HCI/CI, Storage, Backup/DR and Cloud IaaS.
The SA is a technical, customer-facing role that is accountable for the end-to-end customer hybrid data center design and deployment experience. The SA is a thought leader and can talk in terms of business objectives and outcomes and tie them directly to technology vision.
Working in conjunction with Technical Consultants and Practice Leads, the SA owns the technical customer engagement including architectural design sessions (white boarding) and/or Proofs of Concepts. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer facing roles and success leading deep technical architecture and data center design discussions with senior customer executives to drive hybrid data center and cloud deployments, upgrades and migrations. The SA works closely with Sales team members to define, select and adopt data center infrastructure hardware, software and services.
Provide presales expertise on data center infrastructure, virtualization, HCI/CI, Storage, Compute and Cloud IaaS solutions to our clients.
Drive the deployment, upgrade and migration of customers' workloads into data center or cloud infrastructures and provide appropriate recommendations to overcome blockers.
Establish deep relationships with key IT and business decision makers who drive IT strategy and technical adoption within their company.
Provide regular and timely pipeline and forecast updates
In partnership with the sales team, identify, qualify and grow hybrid data center opportunities within our customer base.
Work closely with the Professional Services delivery organization to ensure that capabilities are aligned, and client expectations are met.
Lead the end-to-end design of a proposed solution, including the preparation of customer presentations, configurations, statements of work, budgetary proposals, and detailed diagrams.
Participate in the preparation of sales campaigns, business plans, and technology heat maps for prospects.
Provide market intelligence to various teams and participate in the development of future solution strategies and service/solution offerings.
Keep up to date with market trends and competitive insights including participating in the broader IT industry through events, blogs, whitepapers, and articles and attending vendor-related training, webinars, and conferences as required.
Present at internal and external marketing and industry events.
Educate and develop sales teams on how to sell hybrid data center technologies.
Provide senior technical direction and escalation within projects.
Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external relationships with multiple vendors and partners.
Key Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Deep understanding of hybrid data center technologies, business drivers, and emerging technologies and trends.
Ability to build deep technical relationships with senior executives and grow our footprint within large or highly strategic accounts.
Contagious enthusiasm for and a desire to continuously learn new technology.
Drive collaborative decision making, eliminate roadblocks and execute on plans and initiatives.
Strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to leverage internal and/or external resources.
Exceptional verbal and written communication.
Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences.
5+ years of success in consultative/complex technical sales and deployment projects (where necessary, managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solution/projects.
5+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of data center infrastructures (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, etc.)
2+ years of experience in determining when workloads should reside (i.e. On-premise vs. Cloud)
Deep technical experience in more than one of the following areas: Systems Operations and Management, Virtualization, Storage, IT Security, HCI/CI or Cloud IaaS.
Experience with at least 3 of the following vendors on their data center infrastructure solutions: Cisco, HPE, VMware, Microsoft, Dell, NetApp, Veeam, Cohesity or Nutanix.
Oversight experience on major transformation projects and successful transitions to implementation support teams.
