The Manager of Finance and Administration provides leadership and direction to Apprenticeship Manitoba’s Finance and Administration Unit.

Qualifications:
Essential:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with senior level experience within the financial and accounting services field. A combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting standards; and applying internal control concepts
Experience leading financial management activities such as planning, budgeting and/or expenditure control
Experience preparing financial information and/or proposals for decision-making purposes
Supervisory experience with the ability to coach and mentor supporting staff
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make sound recommendations to senior management
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Excellent written communication skills
Excellent verbal communication skills

Duties:
The Manager of Finance and Administration plays an important role in exercising controllership and financial leadership to Apprenticeship Manitoba (AM). The incumbent’s role in managing, coordinating and monitoring the branch’s budget and providing analytical advice respecting historical training seat purchases and training costs provides the basis for key decisions made by senior management. The Manager provides leadership and direction to staff of the Finance and Administration Unit to contribute to AM’s finance and administrative and client server based application systems and processes, provides advice and support to staff on a variety of financial and information management matters and participates in the development of unit work plans. The incumbent is responsible for the evaluation and analysis of financial implications of program proposals, the preparation of the preliminary estimates package, Minister’s Estimates Briefing Book, Supplementary Information for Legislative Review, monthly cash flows, variance explanations and year-end reporting.
