Radio Frequency and High Voltage Technologist
The Canadian Light Source (CLS) is a national research facility of the University of Saskatchewan. CLS produces very bright light to explore the nature and structure of molecules, and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.
Canadian Light Source Inc. CLSI is now accepting applications for a full-time Radio Frequency and High Voltage Power Supply (RF&HV) Technologist position. This is a permanent position.
Reporting to the RF and High Voltage (HV) Lead, the Radio Frequency and High Voltage (RF&HV) Technologist is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating CLS Facility equipment, particularly the RF and Magnet power supplies, power converters and related equipment.
Duties:
- Tests, controls, commissions, installs, troubleshoots, modifies, maintains, conditions, and adjusts pulsed and continuous low and high voltage power supplies, power converters, and associated electronic equipment
- Monitors equipment operation and accelerator systems, identifies issues, researches solutions and contributes to the planning of maintenance.
- Builds, installs, modifies, maintains and tests control and other electronic equipment used in power supplies and facility accelerator systems. Depending upon education, experience and expertise, the candidate may also provide input to the electronics design/development activities, preparation of preventative maintenance, operations procedures, and test procedures.
- Other duties as assigned covering the RF/HV systems
- On-call duties and shift work will be required
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Grade 12. Post-secondary education from a colleges, technical institution, or vocational institute, with certificate or diploma in electronics or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years’ related experience or 4 years Canadian Light Source related experience
- Additional assets for this position would include:
- Proficiencies in electronic system construction, schematic capture and layout design using EDA software maintenance and troubleshooting
- A relevant journeyperson ticket
Salary, Benefits, and Perks:
This position falls within the scope of the Unifor Local 609 Collective Agreement. The annual starting salary for this position will be $89,433 and the current full annual salary range for the role is $89,433 to $104,644.
