Technology Business Analyst
Calgary, AB
Reporting into the Project Management Office, the Technology Business Analyst will work closely with multiple business units, product analysts and stakeholders to understand and document business processes to enable improvements to process and systems across the organization. Using this information, along with experience, the business analyst will work closely with the product analysts and stakeholders to translate technical/functional requirements and specifications. They will collaborate closely with technical teams to develop solutions, designs and technical requirements. The Business Analyst will direct and plan functional requirements to the development teams to support and deliver project and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with various business units to analyze, map and document business processes, and outline alternative solutions considering benefits, risks and costs;
Bridge the gap between both business and technology teams, ensuring common understanding and alignment of both functional and non-functional requirements;
Create, refine and maintain product design specifications by way of user stories and assisting in the prioritizing of stories during Sprint planning;
Facilitate and/or actively participate in problem-solving discussions and general communication between the business and technology teams;
Turn business requirements into technical specifications and other technical documentation (data transformations, design and operational support documentation);
Collaborate with technical and business teams in the development of practical and cost-effective technology solutions;
Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements – verbally or through written documentation to project managers, sponsors and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood;
Conduct working sessions and use interviews to obtain appropriate information to develop solutions (e.g. one-on-one discussions, formal requirements gathering sessions).

A Bachelor’s degree (Technical, Business or Science);
4+years’ experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, process and data mapping;
Experience in Agile Scrum Delivery and application and systems development;
Ability to focus amid requests from multiple stakeholders and/or against competing priorities;
Critical thinking and willing to challenge the status quo;
Possess a drive to learn new business domains and interact with the business to examine their needs and drive an optimum solution;
Exposure to project management practices and IT based work structures
Working knowledge of Microsoft platforms including MS Windows, MS Office, SharePoint O365
Knowledge of the BABOK(R) Guide's generally accepted practices for business analysis is an asset
Experience in the airline or travel industry a definite asset
