Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance & Cleaning Staff member to join our team. This role combines general facility maintenance and cleaning with outdoor signage placement, which is a key responsibility in driving customer traffic to the market.
As part of our operations team, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both vendors and customers, while also supporting weekend marketing efforts through sign placement.
This is a part-time position, only on weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
Outdoor Signage (High Priority Task):
- Load, transport, and place roadside signs at designated locations on Saturday mornings (with another staff member)
- Retrieve and return all signage on Sunday afternoons
- Ensure signs are placed safely, visibly, and in approved areas
- Report any missing or damaged signs
Maintenance & Cleaning Duties:
- Perform general maintenance tasks across the flea market
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment
- Identify and report maintenance issues
- Clean and maintain washrooms throughout the day
- Empty garbage and manage waste stations
- Handle recycling and cardboard/box breakdown
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum common areas
- Clean entrances, windows, and high-traffic zones
- Respond to maintenance and cleaning requests in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with other staff to complete tasks efficiently
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines
Skills & Requirements:
- Must have a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Strong cleaning and general maintenance skills
- Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals
- Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, walking, outdoor work)
- Attention to detail and proactive work ethic
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed
Schedule:
- Saturdays 8:30 a.m - 5:30 p.m. (morning signs + day shift)
- Sundays 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (day shift + afternoon signage pickup)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.50-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 19 – 21 per week
