Job Opportunity: Mobile Service Technician
JOB SUMMARY
Mobile Service Technicians are versatile employees, skilled in all aspects of truck and trailer manufacturing and customer service. They perform mobile and in-shop repairs, modifications, and new equipment installation on existing trucks and trailers. They are familiar with both steel and aluminum fabrication, and experienced with general mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

LOCATION
This is a mobile position, with the home-base out of our Nisku Service facility (1602 10th Street, Nisku). Our northern Alberta service depot location features close proximity to many oil and gas, municipal, and fleet customers. Being a mobile position, the ideal candidate may be based out of Edmonton, Calgary or Red Deer with the understanding that regular in-house service work will be required at the Nisku Service facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Analyze structural, mechanical and electrical system issues and determine root cause in a timely and cost-effective manner
· Develop professional and cooperative working relationships with key customer contacts and personnel
· Identify potential continuous improvement opportunities and communicate such opportunities back through the organization
· Record in detail all service work performed and issue electronic service contracts
· Timely execute broad scope projects as assigned, including but not limited to preparation of technical reports, work orders, audit of customer equipment, preparation of repair cost estimates, perform service and warranty repairs as required, both internally and externally
· Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, electrical wiring harness and control system schematics, service manuals and operational instructions
· Read and understand the work order to understand the scope of work required
· Work independently or within a team environment with minimal supervision and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
· Anticipate material requirements for upcoming jobs and gather materials accordingly
· Basic steel and aluminum fabrication including cutting, bending, and welding
· Basic service and repair tasks on truck bodies and trailers
· Service and installation of 12-volt lighting components
· Service and installation of hydraulic pumps/PTOs, and other mechanical components or equipment
· Offer insight and direction to Manager on areas of potential service opportunities
GENERAL
· Know and apply company safety rules, policies, and relevant occupational health and safety legislation
· Work in a professional and ethical manner
· Use of hand, power and air tools safely and as required
· Provide support for other departments as necessary
· Properly fill out daily time sheets
· Develop effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors, always treating others with respect
· Be receptive to a quickly changing environment and circumstances
· Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
· 2 Years of relevant customer experience is required
· Experience in welding and electrical would be considered a strong asset
· Basic mechanical aptitude
· Knowledge of ITB’s products is an asset
· Training will be provided where required
Education
· Journeyman/Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic/ Heavy Equipment Technician
· Registered 2nd or 3rd year apprentices will be considered
· CVIP certifications would be considered a strong asset
· Class 3 Driver's License and satisfactory Driver's Abstract would be considered an asset
· Journeyman Welding Certificate would be an asset but not necessary
WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS
· Permanent full-time field/office/shop work
· Core hours are from 7:00am – 4:30pm
· Provide service on an “on-call” basis
· Company service truck, tools, computer, and phone will be provided
