ROLE: Production Lead Hand
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
LOCATION: Guelph
We are looking for a Production Lead Hand to join our Production Team! Our Production Lead Hand is responsible for completing a variety of tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Opportunities
This is a very exciting time for the Production Team as we continue to grow and expand! You will be responsible for monitoring the operation of food processing packaging machinery, the Pasteurized CIP system, and related equipment to ensure duties are performed efficiently and according to GMPs, Food Safety and Quality Programs, and OH&S regulations. To ensure machines are operating correctly, various check points are inspected for safety and quality and the entire production process is carefully observed and documented. This position encompasses, but is not limited to packaging machines, bottle and case washer, box former, and any other machinery associated with the packaging and distribution of finished goods.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Wage: $30.24/hr

Things you will do…
- Understand, support, and comply with all Food Safety and Quality Programs such as Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), Prerequisite Programs, Allergen Programs, Organic Standards, and Food Security.
- Oversee Production Operators and ensure operators perform duties according to SOP’s and adhere to all GMPs, Food Safety and Quality Programs, Health and Safety requirements, and other company policies and procedures.
- Lead pasteurized operations.
- Working with management to improve performance (OEE) via SQCDME metrics and objectives.
- Support and lead the Production Operators to achieve production targets in conjunction with other departments.
- Operation of equipment and execution of assigned duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, GMPs, Health and Safety requirements, Food Safety and Quality Programs, and other policies and procedures.
- Performing at-line product inspection for compliance with operational and critical limits, including packaging seal integrity, lot code application, organoleptic compliance, weight verification, fill temperature, and initiation of corrective action where deviation is found.
- Aid management with the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Training and monitoring employees on execution of tasks according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assisting in the development and training of subordinates as requested by the Production Supervisors and management team.
- Performing inspection and/or sanitation of equipment and work areas to verify and/or meet compliance with all preoperational safety and sanitary requirements and completion of associated Checklists and Records.
- Performing manual manipulation of equipment and operating computer systems to control product distribution, packaging machinery, and washing equipment.
- Ensuring all filler activity is recorded on the associated Filler Log, including accurate product traceability information, mid-operation filler maintenance, monitoring information, deviations, and corrective actions.
- Collecting and submitting samples of finished product for quality assurance testing.
- Ensuring all code date application units, label printers, and other related machinery is accurately set according to the Daily Production Numbers.
- Performing clean up procedures during product changeover and shift changes.
- Conducting sanitation tasks and additional sanitation duties as requested.
- Ensuring all packaging components are checked for conformance against the Daily Production order each time a material change occurs.
- Troubleshooting equipment and implementing corrective actions required, within the scope of capability.
- Reporting food safety and/or quality issues to a Production Supervisor and/or Quality Assurance employee in order to initiate corrective action.
- Any other job duties requested by Production Supervisor.
