Reporting directly to the Director, Legal Counsel, the Leasing Law Clerk will deal with commercial leases, renewals, amendments and extensions, sub-leases, and all other related ancillary documents, and provide general support to the business on leasing defaults and real estate matters, liaise between different business groups and departments within Choice, and employ a dynamic work ethic.

Provide general support to the business on leasing defaults and real estate matters
Liaise between different business groups and departments within the company, as well as legal departments at affiliated companies.
Assisting with the preparation and review of general real estate documentation, including easements, leases, licensing agreement, access agreements, notices/caveats, tenant correspondence, general commercial agreements, and transaction documents.
Assisting with and leading sale transactions, including coordinating closing agendas, transaction documents and closing matters
Conducting and reviewing real property title searches and corresponding instruments, including preparing memos of analysis and opinions
Coordination with external counsel on complex transactions
Assisting with and keeping accurate records of corporate, governance, financing, litigation, insurance, and construction matters
Maintaining property files and title records for our entire portfolio of properties, as well as general filing systems, databases, and checklists
5-8 years of leasing experience gained from a law firm or in-house with a real estate company
General commercial real estate experience as well as experience with title searches will be seen as an asset
Detail-oriented and excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required
Must be friendly, professional and dependable with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented atmosphere.
Ability to work efficiently, and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines
A willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities is an asset
A natural curiosity, internal motivation and engagement with the work will be important.
Experience with Teranet will be an asset
